This is a Waljumping tutorial by me, ShadowDragon121, aiming so that every TASer who doesn't know but wants to learn how to do this trick can learn how to. So, let's start, shall we? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to Walljump - The simple first steps 1.) We start out by catching the wall. This can easily be done by just gaining max speed and holding right (Most of the time it will work) however, I will be telling you how to walljump without max speed. A. Start out by jumping towards a wall and make sure your speed can reach 33 AT LEAST B. Make sure you know where the block's boundary is at that you are trying to walljump on C. Hold right until you get to the wall. Did you slightly go inside the wall? Or did Mario hit it and not do anything? D. Hold right until you get to a reasonably fast speed (5-10 would be good, but if you're just on 33 speed, I'd recommend trying all speeds). E. Now, release right for a frame, and then hold it again. Did anything change? You want to keep doing this until you either catch the wall or Mario's foot goes into the wall completely (Symbolizing that you did it right but you didn't aim for the block right. Other Methods: Another method (The one that I use) is getting yourself to 35 speed right before you get to 37, so that pressing right for a frame gets your speed to 37. Keep pressing right on different frames until you catch the wall. The non-TAS-Fast method is pressing left for a frame. Do nothing, and just hold right continuously until you get the wallcatch (Not very reliable). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One Sided Walljumping: This is for TASers who have the walljump down and know what they are doing. 2.) This is a walljump up one tile. Very easy to pull off, you just have to get the hang of it A. First, you'll want to have a walljump ready. B. Secondly, hold jump, left, and Y (Or X) until your speed reaches either 28 or 29 (It doesn't matter if you only have one show up) and after you've accomplished this walljump method without catching the wall, you'll have to use 31 or 30 speed. C. Hold right until your speed gets to 12, the lowest needed to catch. D. Release right for a frame, proceeding holding right for the rest of the time before hitting the wall. E. Keep doing this until your speed reaches 31 or 32, in which you'll need to stop, and go back to step B, trying 30 or 31 speeds. F. You'll eventually catch the wall, unless you screwed up somewhere. G. Once you've caught the wall, you can repeat one-sided walljumping forever, but there is an easier method to get one after the other OVER and OVER again. All you have to do is watch your speeds in which you need to release right, and eventually you'll be able to catch the wall while releasing right on the same speed every time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.) One Sided Walljumping up two tiles Once you've mastered the regular walljump, you're ready to do it the speedrunning method. A. Begin by recatching the wall B. Now the fun begins. Hold jump, Y, and left for a frame, before releasing it, and then holding it again, until you get to 15 speed. C. Now release left for another frame, before holding it again (You're holding Y and Jump this whole time) until you achieve a speed of either 25 or 26 (It will be one or the either). D. Proceeding that, hold right, and you should catch the wall. If not, then go back and try releasing left on 16 speed instead of 15. Keep doing this until you catch the wall. If you do not catch it, you might be in the very rare location of only being able to catch it when releasing left for a frame below 15. E. If you try those two methods and it didn't work, then go back to the starting walljump and instead of pressing jump, left, and Y, just press jump and Y for a frame, before holding all three until you get to 15, in which you'll go back to step C.
