The Burden

There once was a man, who
seeking the answers to his troubles
Went down to the lake called Nyraid
And began to pray to the goddess
who was rumored to reside in the lake.

After 10 minutes, the man looked upwards, and saw
the goddess he was praying to
hovering above the lake
and with a voice as clear as an ocean breeze
began to speak...

"Oh ye who turns to me for the solutions
Your courage to come here on a roumer is amneable
and in recognition of that blind faith, I bestow upon you
The answers to your troubles."

A light appeared over the man's head, and began to descend
And as he outstreched his hand, expecting
a scroll or a mystical weapon, was shocked to see
A baby girl, wrapped in a light-blue blanket.

Before the man could question the goddess
The goddess continued to speak to the man
"If you truly seek the answer to your troubles
You will raise this child as your own
And when the time comes, All shall be revealed"

"Or you could return to your troubled life
finding your own solutions to your troubles
And never return to this sacred ground again"
The goddess then disappeared, leaving nothing but a afternoon breeze
and a man with a child within his arms.

And then the man, after a moments consideration
Threw the baby into the lake
And left, never to return to the lake again.
